The decisions that matter
Define the feel, stretch and finish.
Fabric names alone cannot define how a garment will feel or move. A swatch, a reference garment and a clear intended use make the discussion more useful.
- 01
Hand feel and finish
Share whether the surface should feel brushed, smooth or dry. Agree the reference and acceptable variation before approving a material.
- 02
Stretch and recovery
Describe the support and freedom of movement you want. Assess stretch in the relevant directions and recovery on the proposed fabric.
- 03
Weight and opacity
Set a weight target where known. Review opacity at the intended fit, color and stretch; a composition or GSM number does not prove squat-proof performance.
- 04
Color and care
Review physical color references, matching tolerances and care requirements. Confirm material availability and relevant testing per project.

Your next step
Check the fabric on a garment sample.
Compare the swatch with the garment sample: seams, tension and construction change how the fabric behaves. Finalize the material together with the fit.
